Cover Supervisors needed! 

 

Secondary schools in the Fareham area are actively seeking dedicated and flexible individuals to join their teams as Cover Supervisors for the academic year 2024/25. Working in partnership with Teaching Personnel, we aim to build a robust pool of Cover Supervisors to assist with daily cover needs within our secondary schools. This is an excellent opportunity for those committed to maintaining high educational standards and making a positive impact on students' learning experiences.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the absence of the regular teacher. Your primary role will be to ensure that students remain on task with the work that has been set and to manage the classroom effectively.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Supervise classes and ensure students are engaged with the work set by their teacher.
  • Support Learning: Assist students with tasks where needed and ensure they understand the instructions provided.
  • Maintain Order: Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Follow Plans: Implement lesson plans left by the regular teacher and ensure all objectives are met.
  • Report Back: Provide feedback to the regular teacher on student performance and any issues that arose during their absence.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Minimum GCSEs in English and Mathematics; a degree is advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an educational setting is highly desirable, especially for teaching assistants looking to advance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students and staff.
  • Flexibility: Availability to work on a flexible basis, accommodating the varying needs of the school.
  • Commitment: A dedication to maintaining high standards of education and student well-being.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and subject areas.

  • Graduates seeking valuable school-based experience before pursuing a teaching career.
  • Educators with school experience but without QTS or a formal teaching qualification.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
