Job description

Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Position: Full-time/Part-time

Are you an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with a passion for education? We are looking for a flexible Cover Supervisor to work across secondary schools in Darwen, Lancashire. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working with young people and is keen to support their learning across a variety of subjects and year groups.

Role Overview:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. You’ll supervise classes, manage behaviour, and deliver pre-prepared lesson plans to ensure students stay engaged and on track with their studies. This role is perfect for graduates considering a career in teaching, teaching assistants looking to step up, or anyone with experience in youth work or education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
  • Delivering pre-set lesson plans and ensuring students remain focused and on task.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Supporting students with questions related to the lesson content.
  • Working across a range of schools, adapting to different settings and learning environments.

About You:

  • Experience: Prior experience working with young people in an educational or youth work setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management, communication, and organisational skills. A positive and adaptable approach is essential.
  • Qualifications: A degree or relevant qualification is advantageous, but experience and enthusiasm are highly valued. This role is ideal for individuals considering a career in teaching or education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
