Location: Christchurch
Position: Cover Supervisor
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about education and supporting students' learning journeys? We are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team at [Insert School Name], ensuring high-quality learning continues in the absence of the regular class teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong classroom management skills, a keen interest in student development, and the ability to inspire young minds.

In this role, you will supervise and facilitate engaging lessons prepared by teachers, manage classroom behaviour, and create a positive, supportive learning environment for students.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring lessons run smoothly and productively.

  • Engage and support students in their learning by answering questions, clarifying tasks, and encouraging participation.

  • Register attendance and uphold classroom expectations in line with school policy.

  • Manage behaviour effectively, maintaining a calm, respectful, and focused environment for all learners.

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide constructive feedback to the absent teacher.

  • Support school activities such as trips, workshops, and extracurricular events, contributing to the wider school community.

  • Assist with organisational tasks when not supervising lessons, such as reception cover, display preparation, or exam support.

  • Safeguarding first: Adhere to all safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure student welfare is prioritised at all times.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • A motivated and conscientious individual with a passion for working with young people.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.

  • Strong classroom management abilities and the confidence to lead a class.

  • A flexible, adaptable approach to support learning in a variety of subjects.

  • Experience in a school or educational setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
