Position: Cover Supervisor
Location: Secondary Alternative Provision, Burnley
Start Date: September
Contract: Ad Hoc Basis

Are you an experienced educator with a talent for managing challenging behaviour? Do you have a passion for supporting students who require an alternative approach to education? We are seeking a dynamic and resilient Cover Supervisor to join our secondary alternative provision team in Burnley.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and structured learning environment. You will be responsible for covering a range of subjects across the curriculum, ensuring that students remain engaged and on-task during the absence of their regular teachers. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a challenging yet rewarding environment and can adapt quickly to changing situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage classroom activities across various subjects.
  • Implement lesson plans left by the absent teacher, ensuring students follow instructions.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour management, addressing disruptions swiftly and effectively.
  • Support students in their learning, providing guidance where necessary.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage participation and learning.
  • Work closely with the wider school team to ensure a consistent approach to student management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working in a school setting, particularly in behaviour management.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • Confidence in covering a range of subjects with a flexible approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude with a commitment to the well-being and progress of all students.
