Are you a skilled construction worker with a passion for teaching? We are seeking a dedicated Construction Tutor (Brickwork) to join a team at an alternative provision school in Liverpool. The school supports students who have found mainstream education challenging, providing them with tailored support to thrive in a practical learning environment.

About the Role:
As a Construction Tutor, you will use your knowledge of brickwork to teach essential construction skills to Key Stage 3 and 4 students. You don’t need to be a fully qualified teacher, but a solid understanding of brickwork and a willingness to share your expertise is crucial. Many of the students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), so providing additional support and encouragement is key to their success. In addition to teaching construction, you will also support students with their English and Maths learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and practical brickwork lessons to small groups of students.
  • Teach students the fundamental skills of construction in a supportive and encouraging manner.
  • Support students with additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist students with English and Maths where needed, providing well-rounded educational support.
  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment that promotes students' confidence and skills development.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Knowledgeable in brickwork and willing to share your expertise with young people.
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), is desirable but not essential.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships with students.
  • Comfortable supporting students with basic English and Maths.
  • Reliable and committed to helping students succeed in both practical and academic areas.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
