Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Chemistry Teacher to join a high-performing and inclusive secondary school in Durham. This full-time role begins in February to cover a maternity, offering an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the education of a diverse group of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Delivery: Teach engaging and well-structured Chemistry lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Student Development: Support a wide range of learners, ensuring they achieve their academic and personal potential through tailored teaching strategies and interventions.
- Lesson Planning: Design and implement creative lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum goals and foster curiosity and enthusiasm.
- Assessment and Feedback: Assess students’ work regularly, providing constructive feedback to promote progress and prepare them for exams and assessments.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Professional Development: Engage in training and development opportunities provided by the school to enhance teaching practice.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Chemistry.
- Subject Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Chemistry curriculum and the ability to teach it confidently at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Classroom Management Skills: Skilled in creating a structured and positive learning environment where all students can thrive.
