Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a motivated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a Welsh Medium Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students aged 3–11. This role is available for an immediate start and focuses on providing tailored support to students facing significant behavioural challenges. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping these students manage their behaviours, overcome personal challenges, and reach their full potential in a nurturing, positive learning environment.

An essential aspect of this role is the ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate physically challenging situations. This is a meaningful opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in special education.

• Communicate effectively through the medium of Welsh and English to provide encouragement and support.
• Approach each day with a positive attitude towards teaching and child development.

• Assist students in developing strategies for emotional regulation and social interaction.

Working with students in a PRU setting can be challenging. Candidates should be prepared to employ de-escalation and calming techniques and approach each situation with empathy. Understanding that challenging behaviours often stem from underlying issues is key to success in this role.
