BB3 Teaching Assistant
Job description
SEN Teaching Assistant
A long-term opportunity has arisen for a qualified teaching assistant with experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs. An Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school in Darwen is in the process of recruiting for a one-to-one support assistant to start from February 2025.
The role is full time (0850-1530, Mon-Fri), providing one-to-one support for a child within class who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. More specifically, the child requires additional support with accessing the Year 3 curriculum and maintaining engagement during lesson times. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out the role of a general teaching assistant around the part time SEN Support hours. This will involve working alongside the class teacher and providing support to other pupils across the class where necessary; usually working alongside small groups of children.
The school is larger than average and is located in the centre of Darwen, close to junction 4 of the M65. Pupils who attend the school arrive from mixed social backgrounds, with a high proportion identified as being eligible for the Pupil Premium funding. Pupil behaviour is good according to the school’s most recent Ofsted grading – the children have positive attitudes to school and are typically courteous and respectful of the policies implemented on a daily basis; in lessons the children are keen and eager to learn and cooperate well with their teachers and with each other.
The Head Teacher is keen to secure an education practitioner who is looking to join a highly supportive team of staff and make a positive contribution to the wider life of the school. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to their work and a proactive and hard-working attitude.
