Autism Support Assistant (Full-Time, Term Time Only)
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join our primary school located in the M9 area of Manchester. This is a full-time position during term time only, offering an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with Autism.
As a Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the educational and social development of students with autism within KS1. Your role will to be to help children to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment. You will work closely with class teachers and SENCO, to ensure that students receive the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students with autism to help them access the curriculum.
- Assist in implementing personalized learning plans and behavioural strategies in collaboration with teachers and SEN staff.
- Create an inclusive environment where all children can engage positively in school life.
- Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and adapt support strategies to meet changing needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them to feel safe and supported.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with autism, either in education or care setting.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and calm when managing challenging behaviour.
- Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or child care are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
