Autism Classroom Support  
Vale of Glamorgan

Hours: 08:15am-15:15pm.
Pay:
£12.90- £13.50 per hour.
Start date:
Monday 7th October (earlier start if possible).

A lovely secondary school in the Vale of Glamorgan are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work within their Autism base. This is an opportunity to join a friendly support team who assist pupils with ASD with their curriculum and life-skills.

About the role:

  • Full-time Monday to Friday 08:15am-15:15pm.
  • Working within the Autism base.
  • Assisting pupils with daily curriculum tasks.
  • Will be expected to offer lessons too alongside other members of staff.
  • Maximum of 36 pupils within the ASD base.
  • Assisting and teaching pupils core subjects alongside the teachers.
  • Within the base work on lifeskills such as cooking, teaching finance and arts/crafts.

About you:

  • The school are seeking an individual who is energetic and flexible.
  • Experience with Autism is essential (personal or professional).
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s.
  • Friendly, approachable and able to adapt to different situations throughout the day – no 2 days are the same!
  • Confident in offering interventions and teaching classes in teachers absence.
  • Able to work with challenging behaviour.
