An exceptional all-through Special School in Basingstoke is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Art Teacher to join their permanent teaching team from January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-improving, expanding school that is committed to creating a nurturing and inspiring learning environment for its pupils.

The successful candidate will have the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive setting, delivering a high-quality art curriculum to pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated art lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils across all key stages.
  • Foster creativity, confidence, and self-expression in pupils through a variety of artistic mediums.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team, including SEN staff, to support pupils’ individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assess and track pupils’ progress, adapting teaching strategies to ensure all learners thrive.
  • Contribute to the vibrant and inclusive culture of the school, including involvement in extracurricular activities or school-wide projects.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Have experience teaching art, ideally within a special educational needs (SEN) setting, though mainstream experience with a strong commitment to SEN is also welcome.
  • Demonstrate a passion for creative education and a deep understanding of how to adapt teaching for diverse needs, including autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Show excellent classroom management skills, with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Be a strong team player, willing to contribute to the school’s mission of delivering holistic education.
