Art Learning Support Assistant

Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Start Date: September
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, £24,000 per annum

About the Role:

Are you a creative individual with a passion for the arts? Teaching Personnel is partnering with an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school for boys in Horsham to find enthusiastic Art Learning Support Assistants. This full-time role starts in September and offers an exciting opportunity to assist pupils in various art-specific subjects, including fine art, videography, graphic design, music, music production, and design technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Engagement: Use your artistic skills to inspire and engage students in fine art, videography, graphic design, music, music production, and design tech.
  • Support Learning: Assist in the delivery of creative lessons, adapting materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Behaviour Management: Handle challenging behaviour with resilience, patience, and a great sense of humour. Implement strategies to support students' social and emotional development.
  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group assistance, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and staff to create cohesive and dynamic art education experiences.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN or SEMH setting. Background in one or more art disciplines is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • Resilience: Comfortable with the complexities of working with SEMH pupils. Patience, resilience, and a great sense of humour are essential.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for the arts and helping students express themselves creatively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
