Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (EYFS)
Location: Primary School in Thornton
Start Date: 24th February 2025

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) team in a welcoming primary school located in Thornton. This rewarding role will involve providing tailored support to a young learner, helping to foster their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a child in the EYFS setting, delivering support based on their specific needs.

  • Assist in the implementation of the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

  • Support the child in accessing the EYFS curriculum, promoting engagement and participation in classroom activities.

  • Use positive reinforcement strategies to encourage the child’s progress and confidence.

  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.

  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment where the child feels valued and supported.

  • Support with personal care needs if required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young children, particularly in an EYFS setting or similar.

  • Knowledge of the strategies to support children with additional needs.

  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and families.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
