1:1 Teaching Assistant for EAL (English as an Additional Language)

This role is essential in helping our EAL students achieve their full potential by providing personalized support and guidance.

Job Description

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for EAL, you will work closely with students whose first language is not English, providing them with the tailored support they need to excel academically and socially. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to create an inclusive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to EAL students, focusing on their specific language development needs.
  • Assist students in understanding and completing classroom assignments and activities.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans and strategies to support language acquisition.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt lesson materials and ensure they are accessible to EAL students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and confidence.
  • Help students build social and communication skills to aid their integration into the school community.
  • Participate in training and professional development sessions related to EAL education.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a educational support role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
