Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a primary school based in the OL9 area, to provide specialist 1:1 SEN support in KS1. This role would be fast paced, pastoral focused and dynamic; no 2 days would be the same. 

As an SEN support assistant, you will be working typically on a 1:1 basis, providing support and assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) including Autism. You will be working closely with this student and will be expected to provide guidance and encouragement towards positive wellbeing and school attendance. 

The successful candidate will attend regular meetings to track the students’ academic, emotional, and social progress. Maintaining a positive working environment is essential to the attainment of the child, therefore the ideal candidate will adopt a positive and confident approach to mentoring and supporting. 

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Work effectively as part of a team within the classroom ensuring that all the children are looked after and learning from the taught content.
  • Work 1:1 with children with SEN.
  • Work coherently with teachers in providing support for students.
  • Have a passion for assisting students.
  • Be enthusiastic and proactive in the classroom.
  • Have experience working 1:1 with children who have barriers to learning (ASD, ADHD, PMLD, VI, HI)
  • Experience working within an SEN school setting or social care.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development.

This opportunity is ideal for educators with previous experience working within schools or with a background in childcare or support work. This position is full-time, therefore you must be available Monday - Friday from 8:30-15:30 during term-time only.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
