Job Title: UASC ESOL Tutor

Location: East of England, Essex, Basildon

Job Type: Temporary, Part-Time

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated UASC ESOL Tutor to join our team in Basildon, Essex. As a tutor, you will be responsible for providing English language teaching to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) to support their educational development and integration into the local community.

Job Duties:

  • Plan and deliver engaging ESOL lessons tailored to the needs of UASC students
  • Assess students' language proficiency and track their progress
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to meet students' educational needs
  • Provide feedback to students and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Recognised teaching qualification in ESOL or relevant field
  • Experience working with UASC or vulnerable youth
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning styles

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Proven experience in teaching ESOL to diverse student populations
  • Knowledge of language acquisition theories and teaching methodologies
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the UK education system
  • Additional qualifications in Special Education Needs (SEN) or related field
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies

Working Conditions:

This position is temporary and part-time, with hours to be determined based on student needs. The role may involve working to accommodate students' schedules. The tutor will be based in Basildon, Essex, and may be required to travel to different home settings within the East of England region.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
