ob Title: Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay: Starting from £12.82 per hour
Start Date: January 2024

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for Early Years education and Special Educational Needs (SEN). In this role, you will use communication-friendly strategies, such as visual cues, to assist children in all aspects of their education. This includes supporting with toileting needs, mealtimes, and playtimes, while creating a nurturing and inclusive environment. You will primarily work with a small group of 3-4 children, but will also assist in preparing and maintaining classroom provisions for all pupils, including outdoor spaces and classroom areas. While specific SEN experience is beneficial, general Teaching Assistant experience will also be valuable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take initiative and follow direction in a calm, assertive manner.
  • Proactively engage with and support children’s learning and development.
  • Provide assistance with toileting needs, including changing and personal hygiene support.
  • Deliver high-quality interventions in Maths and English.
  • Utilize communication-friendly strategies to support children’s individual growth and development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • A valid Child Only DBS certificate, registered on the Update System.
  • Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
  • A background in Early Years education (preferred but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
