  1. Full Time
£12.90 - 13.50 per hour

Job description

Full Time working hours in a forward thinking Primary School in Leyland supporting a child with varying special educational needs.

The child has a full Education Plan specifying the areas to support, the child is diagnosed with Autism and has a range of social and communicational needs.

You will be expected to work on a 1:1 basis alongside the child with the following working hours- 0845-1530 with ½ welfare cover.

The child has recently arrived in school and will be expected to stay until he leaves in Year 6. The child is starting back in the Year 3 class, which is a very important year particularly for children to gain additional support especially in reading and writing as well as maths. In order to successfully support this child, you must have recent experience working alongside children with Autism. You must be able to deal with challenging behaviour, both physical and verbally. You must be able to differentiate the class teacher’s planning to ensure the child is well supported and feels comfortable in the working environment. The child is currently working below expected age related levels in English and Maths, and so there are plans in place to extend the child’s knowledge and confidence around these subject areas.

The Head teacher has clearly specified that she would like a practitioner who is Level 3 qualified and someone who has recent experience working in a Primary setting. The Head teacher also noted that she would preferably like a practitioner who could work full time and be flexible in picking up additional working hours in school.

The school is considered to be ‘challenging’ as there are a number of children who will arrive in school from a socially deprived background, mainly the social housing estate located nearby. You will need to possess a strong and assertive personality which will allow you to build good working relationships with the children.

The role will be to start as soon as possible and run for the foreseeable future months. In the past the school have assessed the needs of the child on a termly basis and extended the contract accordingly.
