SEN Support (ADHD and Autism Experienced required) in a Blackburn (BB2) Primary School.
A top performing school in Blackburn have approached Teaching Personnel to source, shortlist and appoint a teaching assistant on a temporary basis.
The Head teacher in school has noted that this year she has had an influx of children across EYFS and KS1 arrive with Special Educational Needs, who require additional support. Over the next couple of days, I will be looking to source and shortlist a number of Teaching Assistants who possess a strong character, experience with special educational needs and the commitment to taking up a longer-term position.
There are two Teaching Assistant roles available to start as soon as possible, with the view to another additional role. In order to be considered for any of the above roles then you MUST hold a qualification relevant to working with children in an education setting. You MUST have experience working and supporting children with special educational needs including Autism, ADHD and Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. You MUST also have the right attitude to build strong working relationships in school with the parents, the staff and the children.
The Head teacher is reasonably new to the role in school and since she accepted the role in school she has taken them from strength to strength. The staff in school are well supported and given all the tools to support the children to ensure they meet their expected levels. The majority of the children who attend school are from a mixed social background, with good behaviour. However, you will come into contact with children who are from socially deprived backgrounds and broken families. With this, you must be prepared to use a range of behaviour strategies to ensure all the children safe and stimulated in the classroom. The school does hold a consistent behaviour policy which is used across all year groups. The Head teacher will ensure a full induction is implemented on you arriving in school and you will be well supported by the SENCO and Deputy Head.
The role will be to start as soon as the school appoint, expected to be in the next week or so. The Head teacher noted that this could potentially lead to a permanent contracted role. The expected rate per hour is £12.90 and the expected working hours will be from 8.45-15.30 with half an hour lunch.
