English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for an English Graduate Teaching Assistant at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time role begins in January and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on performance. The role offers a weekly pay range of £419.25 - £500, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the Role

This is an excellent position for recent English graduates seeking valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching or further education-related study. You will provide essential support to both teachers and students, helping to foster a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Assist English teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, helping students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Small Group & One-to-One Support: Work closely with students who require additional help, offering tailored interventions to improve comprehension, writing fluency, and confidence.
  • Resource Preparation: Help prepare teaching materials and resources to support differentiated learning.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor and role model for students, encouraging a love for English and providing guidance for those facing challenges.
  • Literacy Development: Support literacy-focused initiatives within the school, such as reading groups, spelling programs, or creative writing workshops.
  • Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with teachers to assess and track students’ progress, identifying areas for improvement and celebrating achievements.
  • Behaviour Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • English Graduate: A degree in English or a related field is essential.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring young minds.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Organised and Adaptable: Capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to the needs of a dynamic school environment.
  • Experience (Desirable): Any prior experience working with young people, such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering, is beneficial but not required.
