Teaching Personnel are workign with a secondary school located in Portsmouth, this is a coeducational institution catering to students aged 11 to 16. Established in 1999, it offers a strong academic program supported by committed staff and excellent facilities.

The school emphasises a well-rounded education, encouraging students to excel academically and participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including a popular Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of education and discipline within the school. You will cover lessons in the absence of regular class teachers, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning.

This full-time position offers a structured and supportive working environment, with opportunities to collaborate closely with staff and develop your skills further.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lesson Delivery: Deliver pre-prepared lessons in line with the curriculum, ensuring all learning objectives are met and maintaining continuity for students.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive learning environment, ensuring that students remain on task and adhere to school rules and expectations.
  • Support Learning: Provide guidance and support to students, answering questions and clarifying instructions where necessary.
  • Behaviour Management: Handle any classroom disruptions effectively and in accordance with the school’s behaviour policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and other staff to ensure smooth lesson transitions and share feedback about student engagement and behaviour.
  • Administration: Record and report any incidents, absences, or issues that occur during the lessons you supervise.

 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Is organised, adaptable, and confident in delivering lessons across a variety of subjects.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to upholding the school’s ethos and values.
  • Holds relevant qualifications or experience in education (although formal teaching qualifications are not required).
