Overview
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with behavioural difficulties in a primary school setting. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and external professionals to support their behaviour and promote a positive and safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural difficulties.
- Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies as directed by the SENCO or class teacher.
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour patterns to inform future support plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students' behaviour improvement.
- Help create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
- Understanding of child development and behaviour management techniques.
Education and Experience:
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
- Additional training or qualifications in child development or behaviour management is desirable.
- Prior experience working with children with behavioural difficulties is preferred.
- Experience in implementing behaviour support plans or interventions.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Good observational and reporting skills.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
- Training in de-escalation techniques or positive behaviour support.
Working Conditions:
- This is a temporary position based in a primary school in Preston, Lancashire, North West England.
- Full-time hours are expected, with occasional flexibility required.
- The role may involve some physical activity and the ability to respond quickly to behavioural incidents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
