Job Description:
As an Autism Support Staff Member, you will play a vital role in assisting children with autism in their learning and development. Your primary focus will be to provide one-on-one and group support to pupils, helping them achieve their educational and personal goals in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to support children with autism in the classroom
- Assist with developing individualized learning plans (IEPs) and monitor progress
- Provide emotional and behavioral support, helping students manage challenges
- Facilitate social interaction and communication among peers
- Implement sensory strategies and other interventions to aid focus and learning
- Work in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's well-being
- Maintain detailed records and reports on students’ progress and achievements
- Support students during school activities, trips, and daily routines
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (SEN) is desirable
- A patient, empathetic, and caring approach to working with children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of children with autism
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support is advantageous
